Mark Lawson talks to actress Liz Smith about her life and career. She reflects on her lonely childhood and her days as a single mother struggling to make ends meet as well as her determination to join the acting profession. Smith got her big break at the age of 50, after being discovered by film director Mike Leigh, but perhaps she's best known as the nation's favourite gran - Nana in the iconic character comedy series, The Royle Family.
